I got this error trying to ssh to an older release of Linux:

ssh {IP}

Unable to negotiate with {IP} port 22: no matching host key type found. Their offer: ssh-dss

To rectify this was quite easy, all I had to do was create a file called “~/.ssh/config” with the following content:

Host {IP}
HostKeyAlgorithms=+ssh-dss

BOOM and it is working!

ps – You could also use a temporary fix with:

ssh -oHostKeyAlgorithms=+ssh-dss {IP}
