Raspberry PI – Wheezy Installation in 4 easy steps.

Installation Step – Part 1, Installing system:

 Install WHEEZY and BOOT.

  • EXPAND FILESYSTEM
  • CHANGE PASSWORD
  • CHANGE TIMEZONE
  • CHANGE KEYBOARD
  • ENABLE SSH
  • Finish and REBOOT

Installation Steps – Part 2, WiFi (DHCP):

Log in with pi/<password>

  • sudo su
  • wpa_passphrase “<SSID>” <PASSPHRASE> >> /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf
  • ifdown wlan0
  • ifup wlan0

Installation Steps – Part 2, WiFi (Static IP):

vi /etc/network/interfaces
change “iface wlan0 inet manual”
to “iface wlan0 inet static”
delete line “iface default inet dhcp”
delete line wpa-roam /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf
append at end of file:
address <IP ADDRESS>
netmask <IP MASK>
gateway <ROUTER IP ADDRESS>
wpa-ssid <SSID>
wpa-psk <PASSWORD>
save
ifdown wlan0
ifup wlan0

Installation Step – Part 3, DNS:

vi /etc/resolv.conf
append:
nameserver <ROUTER IP>
nameserver 8.8.8.8
nameserver 8.8.4.4
save

Installation Step – Part 4, finish off:

apt-get update
reboot
