June 18, 2013 by aubreykloppers

To do this, follow the next steps:

  • in ESXi choose VM > Install VMware Tools.
  • apt-get install gcc make” (Install compiler)
  • mkdir /mnt/cd
  • mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cd
  • cd /root
  • cp /mnt/cd/VMwareTools-nnnnn.tar.gz .” (Where nnn is the release)
  • gunzip VMwareTools-nnnnn.tar.gz
  • tar -xvf VMwareTools-nnnnn.tar
  • cd VMwareTools-nnnnn
  • ./vmware-install.pl
  • Respond to all the questions in default
  • umount /mnt/cd
  • cd ..
  • rm -rf VMwareTools-nnnnn VMwareTools-nnnnn.tar

That’s it.  vmtools installed…

  1. Trevor says:

Step “apt-get install gcc make” needs to include linux-headers for your running kernel
