Ubuntu – Changing your HostName.

To change your hostname, all you have to do is follow these steps:

  1. vi /etc/hosts
  2. add value: “127.0.1.1 <FQDN><HOST>”
  3. run “/etc/init.d/hostname.sh start”

Your host will then have a FQDN as the HOSTNAME (/etc/hostname will also be edited with the correct details).
