Some pointers getting your network up-and-running:

  • Enable eth0, change from DHCP to STATIC by:

# vi /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

DEVICE=”eth0″
BOOTPRO=”static”
HWADDR=”00:0C:29:67:51:B1″
NM_CONTROLLED=”yes”
ONBOOT=”yes”
IPADDR=”192.168.1.44″
NETMASK=”255.255.255.0″
BROADCAST=”192.168.1.255″
GATEWAY=”192.168.1.1″
DNS1=”192.168.1.1″
DNS2=”8.8.8.8″

  • Configuring your default gateway (I added the config into the eth0 file, but I read all over you are suppose to do this):

vi /etc/sysconfig/network

NETWORKING=yes
HOSTNAME=centos6.2
GATEWAY=192.168.1.1

# /etc/init.d/network restart

or

service network restart
